Share market fall for second day in a row

The share market has declined for the second day in a row after the budget of FY 2079/80. The market, which had declined by 35.53 points today, has stopped falling at 2137.92 points. The market had declined by more than 50 points on the first day after the budget.

Planes will not be allowed to fly until the weather in flying route is clear

In view of flight safety, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has decided not to allow planes to fly until the weather is clear at the departing airport and the airport to be reached and the flying route.

The decision was taken after 22 people were killed in a Tara Air plane crash. Preliminary investigation have also shown that adverse weather conditions was the main reason for the Tara Air plane crash.

Earlier, the planes were allowed to fly after the weather at the departing airport and the destination airport is ensured, but now the authority instructs that the flight will only be allowed after the weather is clear on the flight route too.

Outrage of opposition towards the budget of the fiscal year

While participating in the discussion on the budget in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, the leaders of the main opposition party CPN-UML and parties outside the government have criticized the budget and questioned its relevance.

Vice Chairman of the main opposition party UML and former finance minister Bishnu Poudel has said that the budget brought by the government is against federalism. Poudel also remarked that the budget has cut the rights of the state and local levels. He was outraged that the government had cut off the power of the state and local levels to choose their own plans, saying it was an anti-federal move.

CPN-UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai said that the budget presented by the government is standing at a crossroads and was aimless. He said that the budget would not benefit the country. The case against Inspector General of Police (IGP) promotion was scheduled to be heard in a joint sitting of Justices Bishwabhar Prasad Shrestha and Dr. Kumar Chudal in the Supreme Court today. Though a hearing has been scheduled, the Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing in the case of three DIGs Ishwar Babu Karki, Ghanshyam Aryal and Prakash Jung Karki saying that the time limit has not been met.

DIG Bishwaraj Pokharel had filed the writ petition after the government decided to appoint Dhiraj Pratap Singh as IGP. In the writ petition, Pokhrel has demanded to be IGP. AIG Pokharel had filed a writ petition at the apex court alleging that the government had promoted IG by violating seniority .

Melamchi water supply in kathmandu valley been postponed for 4 months

The government has closed the main entrance of the tunnel of Melamchi Drinking Water Project and water supply from Melamchi to Kathmandu will be stopped for next four months.

The Melamchi Drinking Water Development Committee has stated that the tunnel had to be closed due to the onset of rainy season. Although the Melamchi water supply has been resumed in Kathmandu by constructing a temporary structure at the dam site in Sindhupalchok, it is said that the tunnel has been closed due to the possible danger in the rainy season.
The project committee has informed that Melamchi water will be distributed only from mid october, so that the water of Melamchi could be pumped into the tunnel again after regular rains stopped.

The agreement covers more than two-thirds of Russia’s oil imports. The EU agreement is expected to effectively cut oil imports by about 90% by the end of the year.

It also agreed to provide 9 billion euros in aid to support Ukraine’s economy. But it is unknown at this time that if the amount will be a loan or a grant .
This is the sixth EU embargo on Russia. Earlier, the United States and Europe had imposed various sanctions on Russia.

Commission formed to investigate the plane crash

The government has formed a five-member commission to find out the cause of the Tara Air plane crash on Sunday.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has constituted a commission headed by Senior Aeronautical Engineer Ratish Chandra Lal Suman to investigate the accident..

The members of the commission are Captain Dipu Jwarchan, Senior Maintenance Engineer Upendra Lal Shrestha, Senior Meteorologist Maniratna Shakya and Technical Joint Secretary of the Ministry Wuddhisagar Lamichhane.

The committee has a mandate to find out the cause of the accident and recommend measures to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future, said Home Ministry Joint Secretary Hom Prasad Luintel.

On Sunday, a twin-engine plane of Tara Air en route to Jomsom from Pokhara was found crashed at the foot of Manapathi Himal in Mustang. All people on board were killed in the crash.

Nijgadh Airport to be built by removing the legal hurdles

The International Relations Committee of the Parliament has directed the government to move ahead with the construction of Nijgadh International Airport by removing the legal hurdles.

Despite the Supreme Court order not to build Nijgadh Airport and to study its alternative arrangements, the government has included Nijgadh International Airport in its budget for the fiscal year 2079/80. Grade 12 exams start from today


The National Examination Board has started this year’s Class 12 examination all over the country at once.
According to Dr. Mahashram Sharma, Chairman of the Board, the Class 12 examination has started peacefully in 1292 examination centers in all 77 districts from 8 am today.


The National Examination Board has stated that the questions have been sent online to all the examination centers half an hour before the commencement of the examination and arrangements have been made to make photocopies of the questions and distribute them to the students.

Missing plane found crashed

Missing plane of Tara Air has been found crashed.The wreckage of the missing plane has been found at an altitude of 14,500 feet.

Locals had informed the Nepal Army rescue team after finding the wrecked plane on a hill at the foot of Manapathi Himal, three hours above Kowang. It is suspected that all the passengers on board died in the accident and the bodies of the deceased will be brought to Kathmandu.

Failed Nepalese economy in an open market policy

Profits of state-owned enterprises have been declining due to weak government policies and inefficient managerial capacity.

According to the economic survey submitted by the Ministry of Finance, the profit of public enterprises has decreased by 45.42 percent and dividend by 52.33 percent as compared to the last fiscal year.

According to the data released by the Ministry of Finance, out of the 44 public enterprises with full and majority investment of the government, 22 are in profit and 19 are in loss. Net profit of such enterprises , which was Rs. 48.29 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year, has come down to Rs. 26.35 billion.

The government, which has adopted open market economy, has so far privatized 30 corporations. Twelve of the 30 public sector enterprises privatized by the government have been scrapped in line with the government’s policy of making loss-making state-owned enterprises profitable.

Economic Survey and Budget to be unveiled

The Economic Survey of the fiscal year 2022/23 is to be presented at the House of Representatives (HoR) on Saturday.

Though there was a pre-scheduled agenda for presenting Economic Survey in the parliamentary meeting on Friday, it was not materialized due to obstruction of CPN-UML, the main opposition party.

There is an arrangement for presenting the Economic Survey before the unveiling of upcoming year’s budget. Minister for Finance Janardan Sharma is scheduled to present the economic survey in the parliament on Sunday.

Likewise, Finance Minister Sharma will also present the annual budget for the fiscal 2022/23 in the joint meeting of federal parliament .

The Constitution has set Jestha 15 (May 29) as the date for presenting the budget in the federal parliament.

Absconded former DIG Ranjan Koirala been arrested

Absconded former DIG of the Armed Police Force Ranjan Koirala has been arrested after the Supreme Court overturned its verdict.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, he was arrested while hiding in a house in Baneshwor. Koirala was sentenced for life imprisonment for the charge of killing his own wife.Later he was released after the former Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra and Justice Tej Bahadur KC reduced his life sentence to eight and a half years.

Koirala was released from Delhi Bazaar prison on July 29, 2020 .Koirala was lost of contact after the Supreme Court overturned his sentence.

Resolution registered in National Assembly demanding removal of time limit in rape case

A resolution has been filed in the National Assembly demanding complete removal of the time limit for filing a complaint for punishment for child sexual abuse. Nepali Congress MP Kamala Pant filed the resolution in the Parliament Secretariat on Friday with the support of all parties and independent MPs.

The proposal also calls for revision and reconsideration of the provision of time limit for filing a complaint in rape cases against other than children.

The resolution proposes to review the law as the incidence of sexual violence against children is on the rise in the society, due to fear, greed or various physical and mental conditions.

Government agrees to reduce tax on fuel by Rs.10

The government has decided to reduce the tax on petroleum products after widespread protests and criticism from the people.

Although the government has given its consent to the Ministry of Finance to remove the tax on two headings, it has not been decided which heading tax will be reduced and how much. The government has moved ahead with discussions on reducing the customs and infrastructure tax by Rs 5 each to Rs 10 in total.

The government has been levying Rs 25.23 as a custom tax and Rs 10 as infrastructure tax per liter in petrol. Similarly, diesel is taxed at Rs 12.2 pais as a custom tax and Rs 10 on infrastructure tax.

Discussions between Minister Ale and European Ambassador Deprez to lift Nepal’s air embargo

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale and European Ambassador Nona Deprez have discussed the issue of lifting the air embargo imposed on Nepal from the EU security list. During the discussion, Minister Ale urged to lift the air embargo imposed on Nepal.

Re-polling to be held in Budhiganga municipality of Bajura

The Election Commission has decided to hold re-election in Budhiganga Municipality of Bajura stating that the election was not fair.

The Election Commission (EC) has decided to hold re-polling in Bajura’s Budhiganga Municipality following clashes at polling stations on election day, beating of candidates, expulsion of voters and seizure of polling booths by Congress and UML cadres.

The Commission has decided to instruct the Election Officer to fix the date and time of polling as soon as possible as per sub-section (4) of section 41 of the Local Level Election Act, 2073 BS.
The commission has also directed the government to take departmental action against the chief district officer of Bajura, Nepal Police and the district chief of the Armed Police Force for the election offenses.

Supreme Court reverses decision to release former DIG Ranjan Koirala

The Supreme Court has reversed the earlier decision of a joint bench of the Supreme Court to release former DIG of the Armed Police Force Ranjan Koirala on charges of murdering his wife.

Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki, Justices Tanka Bahadur Moktan and Dr. Kumar Chudal’s full bench has reversed the earlier decision.

Koirala, who was imprisoned for only eight and a half years, was released after the decision of the Supreme Court made earlier. He will now have to spend about 11 and a half years in prison.

A bench of suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra and Justice Tej Bahadur KC had quashed Koirala’s imprisonment two years ago.

Supreme Court orders not to build Nijgadh International Airport

The Supreme Court has issued an order not to build an international airport in Nijgadh, Bara.

A full bench of Justices Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Harikrishna Karki, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Prakash Man Singh Raut and Manoj Kumar Sharma has issued an order not to build an airport in Nijgadh.

The apex court issued the order while hearing a writ petition filed by senior advocate Prakash Mani Sharma.

Motorcycle rally of the Youth Renaissance Organization against the Government

Youth Renaissance Nepal Chitwan has organized a motorcycle rally in Narayangarh protesting against the move of the state mechanism and the government.
The protest, which started from Pokhara Bus Park in Narayangarh with slogans, “Stop foreign intervention, stop border encroachment, Indo-US Army leave Nepal”, reached the Central Bus Terminal and turned into a corner rally.

CAN increased national player’s remuneration


Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has increased the salaries of national cricketers and staff.

The CAN meeting held on Tuesday has informed that the salary of the players has been increased. According to CAN, the monthly salary of all male players in Central Contract has been increased by Rs.10000. So on,six thousand for A & B grade women’s team players and five thousand for C grade women’s team players has been increased.

Similarly, the monthly salary of field staff has been increased by Rs 3,000, field office assistant by Rs 5,000 and pitch curator of TRI ground by Rs 6,000.

According to the increased remuneration, A grade players will get Rs 60,000 and B and C grade players will get Rs 50,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively. Similarly, A grade female players will get a monthly salary of Rs 21,000, while B and C grade players will get Rs 18,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.

Monkeypox detected in three more countries

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has became the first Gulf state to record a case of monkeypox.In the UAE, health officials announced a case had been detected in a traveller who had recently visited west Africa and is now receiving medical treatment.

The Czech Republic and Slovenia also reported their first cases on Tuesday, joining 18 other countries to detect the virus outside its usual Africa base.That number is expected to rise further still, but experts say the overall risk to the general population remains low.

Outbreaks of the virus have been found in Europe, Australia and America.The symptoms often include a fever and rash – but the infection is usually mild.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says the virus can be contained with the right response in countries outside of Africa where it is not usually detected.

Fuel price gone up by Rs 10 again


Less than a week later, the Nepal Oil Corporation has again increased the price of fuel. The corporation has increased petrol, diesel and kerosene by Rs 10 per liter. According to the new price, petrol will cost Rs 180 per liter and diesel and kerosene Rs 163 per liter.

Lama from Nepal Police and Poudel from Armed Police Force promoted to AIG

The government has promoted one Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Nepal Police and one Deputy Inspector General of Armed Police to the post of Additional Inspector General (AIG). Demonstration in front of the Prime Minister’s residence demanding punishment for the rapist

Demonstration has taken place in front of the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar demanding action against the perpetrators of sexual violence against a teenager participating in a beauty pageant.

The youths have spontaneously staged a sit-in in front of the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar by launching a campaign in the name of ‘Occupy Baluwatar’ to demand justice for the girl who was raped in the name of beauty pageant eight years ago.

The victim had revealed on social media that a beauty pageant organizer had raped her after she was unconscious with a drink given by the organizer.

They have also demanded the removal of the time limit on serious issues like rape in the demonstration which started demanding not to weaken the morale of the victim and punish the accused.

Government preparing to amend the Citizenship Bill


The government is preparing to move a new bill by amending the Nepal Citizenship Act, 2063 BS.

A bill to amend the Nepal Citizenship Act, 2063 BS has been in the Parliament since 7 August 2018. To take this forward, Home Minister Bal Krishna and Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Govinda Bandi have held discussions with the ruling coalition partner CPN-Maoist Central Committee Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda).

There is a controversy in the Citizenship Bill over whether to grant naturalized citizenship immediately after marriage or only after a certain period to foreign nationals who come after marrying a Nepali citizen.

It is learned that some of the bills brought by the then KP Sharma Oli-led government need to be amended and consensus among the ruling parties is needed to discuss the technical issues of the bill .

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, there are currently 57 bills in the parliament. The government seems to be preparing to move forward by amending the provisions of the bills in the parliament at once.

CK Raut led janmat party won in Saptari

Birendra Majhi of Janmat Party led by CK Raut has been elected as the mayor of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality of Saptari. Majhi has been elected mayor after defeating the outgoing mayor Shailesh Kumar Sah. Majhi won by getting 6,407 votes. His nearest rival Sah got 6,246 votes.

In the previous local level election Majhi was the candidate from the then Forum and Sah had was the candidate from the then Rajpa who won the election. After Rajpa and the Forum together formed the LOSAPA, both of them were in Jaspa. But after Jaspa decided to field Sah as the candidate, Majhi joined the Janmat Party only a day before the nomination.

Similarly, Sarita Devi Siplia Yadav from JASAPA has been re-elected as the Deputy Mayor of Hanuman Nagar Kankalini. She was elected deputy mayor with 6,512 votes. Her nearest rival Rekha Devi Mandal of Janmat Party got 5,982 votes. In Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality, which has 14 wards, Jaspa has won in 7 wards, Maoist Center in 4 wards, Janmat Party in 2 wards and Congress candidate in one ward.

Dahal leads ongoing vote count in Bharatpur metropolis

Renu Dahal, the mayoral candidate of the ruling coalition in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, has widened her differences with her nearest rival UML mayoral candidate Vijay Subedi in the ongoing counting of votes.

While the counting of votes is going on in Ward No. 6, Dahal has managed to maintain the margin of 1617 votes. In the 27,026 votes count held in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Dahal has taken the lead with 9,801 votes while his nearest rival CPN-UML’s Vijay Subedi has got 8,184 votes.

Suspended MP Mohan Baniya’s son arrested with pistol

Police have arrested the son of suspended UML MP Mohan Baniya with a pistol on Tuesday afternoon. Mugu Chief District Officer Rom Bahadur Mahat said that the police had arrested Arpan Bania with a pistol in Manjchaur of Khatyad Municipality-7.

He said that Arpan would be brought to the district headquarters today for further investigation. He was found with a pistol by the police during the counting of votes in Khatyad village.

Annual session of Federal Parliament to be started today

Two election officials been removed from the polling station in Jhapa


Action has been taken against two polling officials of Jhapa . Shailendra Karna, a polling officer posted in Kamal village municipality-6 has been recalled by the District Election Office.

Karna, who was posted at Panini Mavic’s polling station ‘C’ at Kamal 6, had provided 88 voter identity cards to one one of the candidate. Chief Election Officer Tulasi Nepal informed that Karna had called back the candidate after he had provided the voter ID card to the candidate.

Similarly, Assistant Polling Officer of Jhapa Village Municipality-6 Surendra Basnet has been taken into custody on the charge of entering the polling station after consuming alcohol. Basnet, an assistant officer at Janata Higher Secondary School polling station ‘C’ in Saranamati, Jhapa-6, has been removed from the polling station after a voter complained that he had come under the influence of alcohol.He has been taken to the hospital for sobriety test.

35 percent voting across the country by 12 pm

The Election Commission has stated that voting is going on enthusiastically in all 753 localities except for sporadic incidents.

13 killed in jeep accident in Syangja

13 people have been killed and 12 others injured in a jeep accident at Panchamool in Waling Municipality-14 of Syangja district .

President of the Federation of Teachers Kamala Tuladhar said that there will be no schooling for six days from today. At present, there are about 27,000 community and about 8,000 private schools in the country.

Weightlifter Sanju Chaudhary found dead


Weightlifter Sanju Chaudhary has been found dead inside a locked room.

Silence period to be imposed from today

A silence period will be imposed for the local level election after 12 midnight today. The silence period will continue until the voting is over.

Russia must return to pre-invasion position for agreement – Zelensky

Clash broke out between Congress & Unified Socialist cadres in Bajura

A clash has broken out between the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN (Unified Socialist) cadres at Agaunpani in Budhinanda Municipality-9 of Bajura. The tense situation has not been brought under control yet.

Supreme Court orders to keep Aftab Alam in custody

Supreme Court has ordered to keep Nepali Congress leader and former minister Mohammad Aftab Alam in custody till the final verdict in his case.

The apex court passed the order citing the orders of the district court and the high court. Earlier, the Rautahat District Court and the Birgunj Bench of the Janakpur High Court had remanded Alam in custody for trial. In a joint sitting of Justices Sushmalata Mathe and Nahakul Subedi today, the apex court ruled that Alam should not be released.

Alam has been demanded to 32 years in prison on charges of bomb blast, manslaughter and murder.

Modi scheduled to Visit Nepal

According to the federation, the price of marked gold today is Rs 98,600 while the price of fine gold is set at Rs 98,100.

Interrupted domestic flight service resumes at Tribhuvan International Airport

Regular domestic flights have resumed from Tribhuvan International Airport after no bombs or any other suspicious items were found.

Leader of the group Gunaraj Lohani said that Chand has been removed from the post of general secretary on the grounds that he had participated in the local elections against the decision of the party’s central committee and had formed an alliance with MCC supporters UML and Congress.

All the passengers of the domestic flight have been evacuated from the main gate of Tribhuvan International Airport after receiving a call from an unknown person claiming to have a bomb in the premises.

According to an official at the Tribhuvan International Airport, “After an unidentified person called and said that there were bombs in the domestic terminal, we have evacuated all the passengers and continued the search operation.” If such a call comes from somewhere in our system, we have to do a thorough search. ‘
