Supreme Court reverses decision to release former DIG Ranjan Koirala

The Supreme Court has reversed the earlier decision of a joint bench of the Supreme Court to release former DIG of the Armed Police Force Ranjan Koirala on charges of murdering his wife.

Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki, Justices Tanka Bahadur Moktan and Dr. Kumar Chudal’s full bench has reversed the earlier decision.

Koirala, who was imprisoned for only eight and a half years, was released after the decision of the Supreme Court made earlier. He will now have to spend about 11 and a half years in prison.

A bench of suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra and Justice Tej Bahadur KC had quashed Koirala’s imprisonment two years ago.
