CK Raut led janmat party won in Saptari

Birendra Majhi of Janmat Party led by CK Raut has been elected as the mayor of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality of Saptari. Majhi has been elected mayor after defeating the outgoing mayor Shailesh Kumar Sah. Majhi won by getting 6,407 votes. His nearest rival Sah got 6,246 votes.

In the previous local level election Majhi was the candidate from the then Forum and Sah had was the candidate from the then Rajpa who won the election. After Rajpa and the Forum together formed the LOSAPA, both of them were in Jaspa. But after Jaspa decided to field Sah as the candidate, Majhi joined the Janmat Party only a day before the nomination.

Similarly, Sarita Devi Siplia Yadav from JASAPA has been re-elected as the Deputy Mayor of Hanuman Nagar Kankalini. She was elected deputy mayor with 6,512 votes. Her nearest rival Rekha Devi Mandal of Janmat Party got 5,982 votes. In Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality, which has 14 wards, Jaspa has won in 7 wards, Maoist Center in 4 wards, Janmat Party in 2 wards and Congress candidate in one ward.

Sike Raut warns to obstruct local elections in Madhes

If the demands of the farmers’ movement are not met, Sike Raut has said that he will obstruct the local elections.

Speaking at a press conference in Birgunj, Sike Raut, who has been agitating in Madhes for various demands of the farmers, said that local level elections would not be held in the Terai Madhes region if the demands of the farmers are not met.

“Let’s envision local level elections only if the demands of the farmers are addressed first,” he said.Otherwise, “I can’t say anywhere else, but in the Terai Madhes, from Jhapa to Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, Kanchanpur, we will obstruct the election,”he said.

Sike Raut has been agitating in Terai Madhes with 11 different demands.
