Re-polling to be held in Budhiganga municipality of Bajura

The Election Commission has decided to hold re-election in Budhiganga Municipality of Bajura stating that the election was not fair.

The Election Commission (EC) has decided to hold re-polling in Bajura’s Budhiganga Municipality following clashes at polling stations on election day, beating of candidates, expulsion of voters and seizure of polling booths by Congress and UML cadres.

The Commission has decided to instruct the Election Officer to fix the date and time of polling as soon as possible as per sub-section (4) of section 41 of the Local Level Election Act, 2073 BS.
The commission has also directed the government to take departmental action against the chief district officer of Bajura, Nepal Police and the district chief of the Armed Police Force for the election offenses.
