22 people including 9 immigration officials arrested in charge of human trafficking

Kathmandu: A case has been registered against people involved in human trafficking in the name of visit visa f . Based on the police report, District Public Prosecutor’s Office Kathmandu has registered a case against 22 people, including 9 immigration officers, in Kathmandu District Court for offenses related to organized crime.

A case has been registered against 22 people, including immigration officers Tara Bahadur Kunwar, Kushal Baral, Shailendra Dhakal, Bimal Paudel, Bishnu Prasad Aryal, Vikas Dangol, Pitambar Rimal, Sujan Fago Limbu and Narvir Khadka, for illegally smuggling people on visit visas by using government documents.

Similarly, a case has been registered against Geeta Shah, Saroj Kumar Yadav, Padam Lama, Manoj Tamang, Ram Prasad Bhandari, Dinesh Gyawali, Ravin Aryal, Vinod Karki, Kaushila Magar, Lakshmi Rai and Rita Damai.

The police investigation revealed the involvement of the immigration staff in the process of taking money through the travel agency and making fake documents and sending them out of the airport. Earlier, Immigration officer Narveer Khadka was arrested by CIB on the same case.

Himalaya Airlines gets ground handling permit

Kathmandu – The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has given permission to Himalaya Airlines to perform ground handling of its aircraft by itself .

With the Supreme Court granting the mandate, Himalaya will get the ground handling it demanded. The Bench of Justices Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma and Binod Sharma has issued an injunction to allow Himalaya Airlines to carry out self-ground handling.

The authority decided to provide ground handling services to Himalaya Airlines in 2077 but later on the authority did not allow Himalaya Airlines to do self-ground handling saying that there is insufficient space.Himalaya Airlines Pvt. Ltd and Vice Chairman of the company Bijay Bahadur Shrestha later on filed a case against the Civil Aviation Authority and Tribhuvan Airport Office on a basis of a provision in the ground handling and ground service operation guidelines.According to the provision,companies with 35 regular flights per week can do ground handling by themselves.

At Tribhuvan Airport, Nepal Airlines Corporation is currently handling the ground handling of the entire airport. Air India too has its self ground handling  .

In ground handling, you can do things such as putting up ladders for boarding and disembarking passengers, taking and bringing passengers from the terminal to the ship, managing passenger baggage, etc.

Three-member investigation committee formed to further investigate the incident of assault with TIA immigration officials

KATHMANDU – The Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a three-member investigation committee to further investigate the matter of the assault of the immigration officers by the police assigned to provide security at the Tribhuvan International Airport.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a three-member inquiry committee under the coordination of Joint Secretary Thaneshwar Gautam. DIG of Police Rajeshnath Bastola and Deputy Home Secretary Kool Bahadur GC are in the committee. It is said that the committee has been instructed to submit a report with facts within 3 days.

After the incident of assault, a discussion was held between Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha, Home Secretary Dinesh Bhattarai, Director General of Immigration Department Rudrasinh Tamang, Head of TIA Immigration Office Gogan Bahadur Hamal and others.

Kathmandu- The police of Tribhuvan International Airport assaulted the immigration officer along with the head of the airport immigration office when a dispute arose over the issue of security.

It is said that while checking(frisk search) immigration officer Chhayanlal Moktan on , the police attacked him in a heated dispute over the issue of checking the immigration staff but not the police.

Moktan told Gogan Bahadur Hamal, the head of the immigration office, about the mistreatment by the police, and when Hamal looked at the CC camera to understand the reality of the incident, he clearly saw that the police had punched the immigration officer Moktan. It is said that as soon as he responded to the incident, the police stationed there attacked Hamal too.

After the incident, the immigration officials complained that if the DSP of police and the deputy secretary of immigration enter together, the police will search the deputy secretary of immigration, but not the DSP, and leave him .

After the incident, the immigration officials said that police collusion is seen in most of the smuggling from the airport and they should not be exempted from security.

Govt prepared to operate Nepal Airlines under management contract

KATHMANDU – The government is preparing to operate the national flag-carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) under management contract.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati said that processes have been advanced for the management contract of the NAC for its restructuring.

At a meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday, Minister Kirati said, “We are preparing to go for this system as we are required to embrace the management contract of the Corporation’s restructuring.” The Ministry has already sent a proposal for a management contract to the cabinet. “A decision will be made soon on this agenda,” he shared.

Minister Kirati argued that reforms in the NAC were inevitable through management contracts based on the studies and recommendations of the stakeholders. Since the management contract modality has generated good results in different countries, this model could be appropriate in Nepal too, he claimed.

On the occasion, Minister Kirati shared that the ministry has drawn the conclusion that the NAC cannot be run in the existing situation and that plans were being prepared to run the organization by bringing about structural reforms. On the occasion, lawmaker Udaya SJB Rana said that the NAC’s presence should be made robust in the international market even by adding more aircraft.

Likewise, lawmaker Dr Dhawal SJB Rana said that the NAC’s management contract was appropriate but it should advance only on the basis of relevance. However, lawmaker Prem Suwal opposed the idea of operating the NAC through a management contract and called for all to become responsible for reforms in the NAC.

New arrangement for going abroad on visit visa

Kathmandu- The government has made a new arrangement for going abroad on a visit visa.

The Department of Immigration has stated in its travel advisory that the new system will be implemented for Nepali travelers from Wednesday. Earlier, 17 criteria were set for visiting foreign countries, including knowing English and passing class 12.

From Wednesday, passengers going abroad on a visit visa will have to carry a passport with a validity of 6 months, a two-way air ticket and hotel booking, and proof of exchange of USD 500.

Hotel booking is not required if the traveler is staying at his/her relative’s accommodation. Such travelers must submit documents revealing their relationship with relatives.

Similarly, if someone is invited by a government or non-government organization, no US dollar is required and such organizations will bear the travel expenses. According to the provisions, the passenger has to submit the invitation letter.

Likewise, travelers traveling to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia on a visit visa must fill out a self-declaration form stating that they will not engage in activities other than travel. It has requested everyone not to fall for the false assurances of middlemen saying that there will be no additional fee for travelling on visit visa.

The government is directly involved in gold smuggling

CPN-UML whip Mahesh Bartaula has accused the government of direct participation in the activities of importing gold from China into Nepal and exporting it elsewhere.

Speaking to reporters at Parliament House on Monday, he also said that the government is not in favor of forming a high-level inquiry committee in fear of high-ranking figures in the government.

Bartaula said that the government is trying to defame the country by making Nepal a transit point for gold smuggling.

Executive Chairman of Nepal Airlines Yuvraj Adhikari dismissed

The government has dismissed Yuvraj Adhikari, the Executive Chairman of Nepal Airlines Corporation.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held today decided to dismiss Chairman Yuvraj Adhikari. Earlier, he was suspended on charges of irregularities within the corporation and misbehaving with employees. He was also asked for clarification on the controversy, including entrusting the sale of tickets to an organization without public competition. After the Supreme Court overturned his suspension, he returned to work.
But today’s meeting of the Council of Ministers finally dismissed him as he could not improve the situation of the corporation.

Two international flights been diverted to India after bad weather in Kathmandu

Two planess from New Delhi, the capital of India, had been diverted due to bad weather at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

Vistara Air flight from New Delhi had been diverted to Lucknow, and the Indigo Air flight from Delhi has diverted back to Delhi.

The flight of Nepal Airlines from Tokyo, Japan and the flight of Korean Air from Korea are in the process of landing after being held for a while due to the bad weather condition.

The weather in Kathmandu had deteriorated on Wednesday evening after a sudden downpour.

Interrupted domestic flight service resumes at Tribhuvan International Airport

Regular domestic flights have resumed from Tribhuvan International Airport after no bombs or any other suspicious items were found.

Although international flights were not disrupted, domestic flights at the airport were suspended after an unidentified person called and claimed a bomb at the domestic terminal.

A search operation was launched by a team of Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police along with a trained dog, following a phone call from an unidentified person who allegedly came from a Pakistani number. However, security forces did not find any bombs or any other suspicious objects during the search and the airport has also started domestic flights.

All domestic flights were disrupted for about an hour after 10 a.m. today.

TIA domestic terminal been evacuated

All the passengers of the domestic flight have been evacuated from the main gate of Tribhuvan International Airport after receiving a call from an unknown person claiming to have a bomb in the premises.

International flights has not been disrupted but the domestic flights are closed as the caller claimed the bomb was in the domestic terminal .A team including Nepal Army, Armed police Force and Nepal Police is conducting search operation.

According to an official at the Tribhuvan International Airport, “After an unidentified person called and said that there were bombs in the domestic terminal, we have evacuated all the passengers and continued the search operation.” If such a call comes from somewhere in our system, we have to do a thorough search. ‘

He said that now all the passengers have been taken out and security personnel including trained dogs are searching the airport. A Nepal Army bomb disposal team has also reached the airport.

Five arrested in an attempt of smuggling gold hiding in a toilet of Himalayan Airlines plane

The security office of Tribhuvan International Airport has arrested five persons for smuggling about 2.5 kg of gold.

According to Airport Police Chief Bhim Prasad Dhakal, it has been revealed that an attempt was made to smuggle gold by hiding it in the toilet of the plane.
Police have arrested Himalayan Airlines flight attendants Suman Tamang, Bhim Awale and Supervisor Tarkant Chaudhary on gold smuggling charges. They are said to have helped pass the gold hidden in the toilet on a Himalayan Airlines flight.
Among the arrested are Rajesh Rai, 28, of Udayapur and Hem Bahadur Thapa, 41, of Dolakha.

International flights on hold at TIA due to poor visibility

International flights are on hold at Tribhuvan International Airport due to poor visibility. According to the Tribhuvan Airport Office, the flights are now managed through equipment-based flight and landing systems.

Due to which the flights are on hold. At present, Singapore Airlines from Singapore, IndiGo Airlines from Mumbai and Nepal Airlines from Delhi are flying on the sky of Terai.
