Commission formed to investigate the plane crash

The government has formed a five-member commission to find out the cause of the Tara Air plane crash on Sunday.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has constituted a commission headed by Senior Aeronautical Engineer Ratish Chandra Lal Suman to investigate the accident..

The members of the commission are Captain Dipu Jwarchan, Senior Maintenance Engineer Upendra Lal Shrestha, Senior Meteorologist Maniratna Shakya and Technical Joint Secretary of the Ministry Wuddhisagar Lamichhane.

The committee has a mandate to find out the cause of the accident and recommend measures to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future, said Home Ministry Joint Secretary Hom Prasad Luintel.

On Sunday, a twin-engine plane of Tara Air en route to Jomsom from Pokhara was found crashed at the foot of Manapathi Himal in Mustang. All people on board were killed in the crash.

Locals had informed the Nepal Army rescue team after finding the wrecked plane on a hill at the foot of Manapathi Himal, three hours above Kowang. It is suspected that all the passengers on board died in the accident and the bodies of the deceased will be brought to Kathmandu.

It is estimated that the plane crashed into the Manapathi Himal after turning left from the sky of Titi Lake at the foot of Nilgiri Himal due to heavy clouds at Jomsom Airport.
