22 people including 9 immigration officials arrested in charge of human trafficking

Kathmandu: A case has been registered against people involved in human trafficking in the name of visit visa f . Based on the police report, District Public Prosecutor’s Office Kathmandu has registered a case against 22 people, including 9 immigration officers, in Kathmandu District Court for offenses related to organized crime.

A case has been registered against 22 people, including immigration officers Tara Bahadur Kunwar, Kushal Baral, Shailendra Dhakal, Bimal Paudel, Bishnu Prasad Aryal, Vikas Dangol, Pitambar Rimal, Sujan Fago Limbu and Narvir Khadka, for illegally smuggling people on visit visas by using government documents.

Similarly, a case has been registered against Geeta Shah, Saroj Kumar Yadav, Padam Lama, Manoj Tamang, Ram Prasad Bhandari, Dinesh Gyawali, Ravin Aryal, Vinod Karki, Kaushila Magar, Lakshmi Rai and Rita Damai.

The police investigation revealed the involvement of the immigration staff in the process of taking money through the travel agency and making fake documents and sending them out of the airport. Earlier, Immigration officer Narveer Khadka was arrested by CIB on the same case.

New arrangement for going abroad on visit visa

Kathmandu- The government has made a new arrangement for going abroad on a visit visa.

The Department of Immigration has stated in its travel advisory that the new system will be implemented for Nepali travelers from Wednesday. Earlier, 17 criteria were set for visiting foreign countries, including knowing English and passing class 12.

From Wednesday, passengers going abroad on a visit visa will have to carry a passport with a validity of 6 months, a two-way air ticket and hotel booking, and proof of exchange of USD 500.

Hotel booking is not required if the traveler is staying at his/her relative’s accommodation. Such travelers must submit documents revealing their relationship with relatives.

Similarly, if someone is invited by a government or non-government organization, no US dollar is required and such organizations will bear the travel expenses. According to the provisions, the passenger has to submit the invitation letter.

Likewise, travelers traveling to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia on a visit visa must fill out a self-declaration form stating that they will not engage in activities other than travel. It has requested everyone not to fall for the false assurances of middlemen saying that there will be no additional fee for travelling on visit visa.

Home Ministry request not to work abroad on a visit visa

The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a statement today, asking citizens not to go abroad to work on a visit visa.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has requested Nepali citizens not to go and work on visit visas as there is no legal basis to provide insurance, compensation and relief during the rescue and return of such citizens.

It has been mentioned in the statement issued by the ministry that even Nepalese who go abroad for employment must complete the process of labour approval and other procedures as per the prevailing laws from the relevant agencies.

In the statement issued by the Ministry, even the local level has been requested to keep records of such persons when the citizens within their area go abroad for travel or employment. In the statement issued by the joint secretary/spokesperson of the ministry, Fanindramani Pokhrel, it is requested to use the visit visa only for tourism and not to be tempted to go abroad for employment on the visit .
