Himalaya Airlines gets ground handling permit

Kathmandu – The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has given permission to Himalaya Airlines to perform ground handling of its aircraft by itself .

With the Supreme Court granting the mandate, Himalaya will get the ground handling it demanded. The Bench of Justices Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma and Binod Sharma has issued an injunction to allow Himalaya Airlines to carry out self-ground handling.

The authority decided to provide ground handling services to Himalaya Airlines in 2077 but later on the authority did not allow Himalaya Airlines to do self-ground handling saying that there is insufficient space.Himalaya Airlines Pvt. Ltd and Vice Chairman of the company Bijay Bahadur Shrestha later on filed a case against the Civil Aviation Authority and Tribhuvan Airport Office on a basis of a provision in the ground handling and ground service operation guidelines.According to the provision,companies with 35 regular flights per week can do ground handling by themselves.

At Tribhuvan Airport, Nepal Airlines Corporation is currently handling the ground handling of the entire airport. Air India too has its self ground handling  .

In ground handling, you can do things such as putting up ladders for boarding and disembarking passengers, taking and bringing passengers from the terminal to the ship, managing passenger baggage, etc.
