PM Deuba will not attend the UN General Assembly

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, will not be attending the upcoming 77th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

During the participation in the UN general assembly, Pm Deuba was supposed to have a bilateral visit between the US and Nepal. But as the date of the election in Nepal has been fixed and no concrete date from the US for a bilateral visit has been set, he will not be attending the UN General Assembly.

Earlier, arrangements were made to hold a bilateral visit between US and Nepal. But it was postponed after the rejection of SPP by the Nepal government in June.

According to the information received, Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka will attend the UN general assembly on behalf of Nepal. But no decision has been finalised yet and the next cabinet meeting will decide regarding the matter, said an official of foreign affairs.

Usually, The head of government or head of state of the member countries of the United Nations participates in the General Assembly and express their views on the world stage on behalf of their respective countries.

MCC is not treason: PM Deuba

Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has claimed that MCC is not Treason and has requested to respond about MCC only after reading it first.

Addressing the eighth general convention of the CPN-Maoist Center, Deuba urged the people to speak only after studying the MCC. He said, “If MCC is treason, then I don’t want it either.”

He also said that he had been fighting for Nepal’s nationality for a long time and would not sign any treaty that would betray the nation. “I am also the Prime Minister of Nepal. Could I ever go against Nepal’s nationality?” I am also a person who fought for the nation, why should I make such a treacherous treaty? ‘, Deuba asked.

He also expressed the confidence that the MCC would be passed by consensus.
