Nepal defeated by a wide margin of 8-0

After defeating the Maldives by 4-0 and Sri Lanka by 3-0 in the first two matches, Nepal lost to India by a wide margin of 8-0 in the third match of the SAFF U-20 Championship.

After scoring 1 goal in the first half of the game, India scored 7 consecutive goals in the second half of the game. With today’s match, Nepal’s goal of playing the final has been added to the challenge. After winning three matches, Bangladesh is at the top of the league with 9 points, while India is at the second position with 6 points. Nepal has managed to collect 6 points from three games, but Nepal is behind India in terms of goal difference.

In order to play the final match, Nepal has to win the next match with Bangladesh, while India has to lose in the next match with the Maldives or the match has to end in a tie.

Nepal dropped eight position below at once in the FIFA ranking

Nepal has slipped eight position below to 176th position in the latest rankings released by FIFA on Thursday. Earlier, Nepal was ranked 168th in the ranking released in March.

Nepal had lost all three matches of the group stage in the final round of the AFC Asian Cup in Kuwait last May. In the selection, Nepal lost 2-0 to Jordan, 4-1 to Kuwait and 7-0 to Indonesia. Losing in three games has also affected the rankings.

This is the first time since 2014 that Nepal has lost such a huge position in the ranking at once. In September of that year, Nepal dropped 17 places at once.

Among the South Asian nations, Nepal is after India and Maldives. India is ranked 104th and Maldives 156th. After Nepal, Bhutan is ranked 186th, Bangladesh 192nd, Pakistan 196th and Sri Lanka 207th.

In the world rankings, Brazil remains at the top and Belgium remains at the second position, while Argentina has risen to the third position. France dropped to fourth place while England remained in fifth place.

Spain is sixth, Italy is seventh, the Netherlands is eighth, Portugal is ninth, and Denmark is tenth. Leading Asian nations are Iran at 23rd and Japan at 24th.

Nepal loses first match of Asian Cup qualifiers

Nepal lost to Jordan with 2-0 in the first match of the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers at the Javer Al-Ahmed International Stadium in Kuwait.

Experienced players including captain and goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong, vice-captain Rohit Chand, Anjan Bista, Vimal Ghartimagar and Sujal Shrestha were left out of the team.After a dispute between the coach and the players Nepal played the game without 11 senior players of the team in the captainship of Navyug Shrestha.

Nepal will face Kuwait in the next match on Saturday.
