Nepal dropped eight position below at once in the FIFA ranking

Nepal has slipped eight position below to 176th position in the latest rankings released by FIFA on Thursday. Earlier, Nepal was ranked 168th in the ranking released in March.

Nepal had lost all three matches of the group stage in the final round of the AFC Asian Cup in Kuwait last May. In the selection, Nepal lost 2-0 to Jordan, 4-1 to Kuwait and 7-0 to Indonesia. Losing in three games has also affected the rankings.

This is the first time since 2014 that Nepal has lost such a huge position in the ranking at once. In September of that year, Nepal dropped 17 places at once.

Among the South Asian nations, Nepal is after India and Maldives. India is ranked 104th and Maldives 156th. After Nepal, Bhutan is ranked 186th, Bangladesh 192nd, Pakistan 196th and Sri Lanka 207th.

In the world rankings, Brazil remains at the top and Belgium remains at the second position, while Argentina has risen to the third position. France dropped to fourth place while England remained in fifth place.

Spain is sixth, Italy is seventh, the Netherlands is eighth, Portugal is ninth, and Denmark is tenth. Leading Asian nations are Iran at 23rd and Japan at 24th.
