Ordinance in the Parliament to remove the difficulties encountered

KATHMANDU – The government has presented an ordinance related to economic procedures and an order to remove difficulties in the meeting of the House of Representatives .

Finance Minister Dr Prakasharan Mahat presented the ‘Financial Procedures and Financial Accountability (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2080’ in the meeting. The ordinance includes provisions such as extending the time period for pre-discussion of the government’s policies and programs and budget.

Likewise, the Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung has submitted an order to remove the discomfort caused by the extension of two commissions related to transitional justice according to Section 42 of the Commission of Inquiry into Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation Act, 2071

Parliament session begins today

Kathmandu – The winter session of the Federal Parliament is starting today. Seven possible agendas have been set for the meeting of the House of Representatives, which is scheduled for 4 pm.

At the beginning of the meeting, Speaker Devraj Ghimire will read out the details of the letter received from the President. After that, he will read out the letter regarding assignment of duties received from the office of the President and the letter regarding assignment of duties received from the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

According to the Parliament Secretariat, the agenda for the Speaker to nominate the members who will preside over the meeting according to the House of Representatives Rules 2079 has been decided. Likewise, the Electronic Business Bill, 2080 and the National Dignity Bill, 2079 will be tabled in the National Assembly.

National Assembly meeting postponed indefinitely

April 18, Kathmandu – The meeting of the National Assembly scheduled to be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:31 PM has been postponed indefinitely.

The General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Bharatraj Gautam, has published a notice saying that the meeting has been adjourned until further notice.

Earlier, the meeting called for 30 Chaitra 2079 BS.was also postponed on the instructions of the President of the National Assembly, Timilsina.

Nominations registered for the chairmanship of the four thematic committees of the National Assembly

Nominations have been registered for the chairmanship of four thematic committees of the National Assembly. Although the election was scheduled to be held on Thursday, the nomination was unanimous after one candidate filed for each post.

Beduram Bhusal, who is also the general secretary of the Unified Socialist Party, has been nominated for the chairmanship of the Legislative Management Committee of the National Assembly, while UML’s Parvati Rawal (Dilkumari) has been nominated for the chairmanship of the National Concerns Committee.

Similarly, Maya Prasad Sharma of the Maoist Center has been nominated as the Chairman of the Delegated Management and Government Assurance Committee.

Prakash Panth of the Nepali Congress has been nominated for the chairmanship of the Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee.

Elections are held every two years for one-third of the members of the 59-member National Assembly. The rules of the National Assembly stipulate that the committee should be reconstituted and the chairman should be changed after one-third of the members’ posts become vacant.

Bamdev Gautam’s demand to elect the Vice President of the National Assembly within a week

Member of the National Assembly and former Deputy Prime Minister Bamdev Gautam has requested the Speaker of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina to hold the election of the Vice President of the National Assembly within a week.

MP Gautam once again drew the attention of Speaker Timilsina to immediately decide the Chairman of the Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee, Legislation Management Committee and Delegated Management and Government Assurance Committee under the National Assembly.

Mentioning that 3 of the 4 committees of the National Assembly are leaderless, he also warned that if Chairman Timilsina does not pay attention to their immediate arrangements, they will be forced to go on strike.

MP Gautam, as a senior member, presented the annual report of the Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee in the assembly.

Meeting of the National Assembly been postponed

The meeting of the National Assembly convened for Wednesday has been postponed .

The Parliament Secretariat has stated that the meeting of the National Assembly has been postponed to June 16 2022. Earlier the meeting was scheduled for June 15.

This has been mentioned in the statement issued by the Secretary General of the Federal Parliament Dr. Bharatraj Gautam.

Narayan Dahal, who was nominated as a member of the National Assembly on the recommendation of the government, has taken oath of office and secrecy.
