Nepal in World Cup qualifiers

Nepal has entered the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup Qualifiers.

After winning against UAE in the final match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League-2, Nepal has entered the 2023 ODI World Cup Qualifiers. The Global Qualifier for the ODI World Cup, which will be contested by 10 teams including Nepal, will be held in June-July in Zimbabwe.

According to the Duckworth-Lewis rule, Nepal managed to win by 9 runs in yesterday’s match at the TU Cricket Ground. Nepal got direct entry into the global selection as it is in the top three positions of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.

Nepal won the ODI series against Kenya

Nepal won the one-day series by defeating Kenya by 17 runs in the match held in Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday.

After winning the toss, Nepal went to bat first and managed to score 230 runs. Rohit Paudel scored the highest 78 runs for Nepal. Similarly, Arjun Saud scored 5, Dev Khanal scored 37, Sompal Kami scored 26, Gyanendra Malla scored 25, Basir Ahmed scored 17, Mohammad Adil Alam scored 14 and Karan KC scored 11.

Kenya, who entered the field with a target of 231 runs, managed to add only 213 runs in 46.3 overs.

Nepal who won the T-20 series earlier also won the previous match by 7 wickets on Friday.

Nepal won the first T20 international match against Kenya

Nepal won the first T20 international match against Kenya by 5 wickets.

Kenya, who lost the toss and batted first, lost 8 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs and managed to score 130 runs. The Nepali team, which entered the field with a target of 131 runs, managed to add 133 runs after losing 5 wickets in 19.2 overs.

After winning the first international match under the leadership of newly appointed coach Manoj Prabhakar, Nepal has taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. The Nepalese team on the tour of Kenya will play 5 T-20 and 3 ODI series.

Nepal is currently ranked 14th in the World T-20 international rankings.
In the 2024 T-20 World Cup, the top 12 ranked countries will be selected for the World Cup, apart from the host nation.

CAN announced a 23-member squad for the ODI and T20 series against Zimbabwe

Cricket Association of Nepal(CAN) has announced a 23-member squad for the ODI and T20 series against Zimbabwe today. Sunil Dhamala has returned to the team after a long absence while Binod Bhandari has also returned to the team.

U-19 all-rounder Basir Ahmed has made it to the senior team for the first time. Gyanendra Malla and Sharad Bheswakar are not in the team.

There will be three ODIs and three T20I matches between Nepal and Zimbabwe A team.

The one-day series will start from 30 April. The first game will be played on the 30th of April, the second game on the 2nd of May and the third game on the 4th of May.

Similarly, the first match of the T20 series will be played on May 6, the second match on May 7 and the third match on May 9. Zimbabwe has already announced the squad for the tour of Nepal on Thursday. The Zimbabwe A team will arrive in Nepal on April 28.
