State Partnership Program (SPP) has been approved


The US Embassy in Nepal has said that the US has accepted Nepal’s offer to participate in the State Partnership Program (SPP).

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Manuel P. Micaller, charge D’Affaires of Mission of the US Embassy in Nepal, said that Nepal had written to the SPP twice in 2015 and 2017 to participate in the SPP and that the US had approved it in 2019.

The US embassy also said that no agreement is required to join the SPP. According to the embassy, ​​the then Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri signed the petition twice in 2015 and 2017. Stating that the request has been submitted to the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United States approved the proposal in 2019 and included in the report of Indo-Pacific Strategy.
