Russia accuses America of sabotaging gas pipelines

Russia has accused the US of damaging an undersea pipeline supplying Russian gas.

After European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said, any disruption to European energy infrastructure was unacceptable and would be met with a strong response, the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also questioned, who the EU wants to punish as the most likely suspect for damaging the Nord Stream gas pipeline and to whom the warning applies, referring to Sikorsky’s tweet on Tuesday saying “Thank you USA” along with a photo of a large gas leak in the waters of the Baltic Sea.

She also said that former Polish foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski, who has good relations with Washington, had already confirmed that the US was behind the pipeline sabotage.

US President Joe Biden warned in early February, before Russia launched military operations in Ukraine, that if Moscow attacked Kiev, there would be no more Nord Stream 2 and the US will end it.
