Resham Chaudhary’s life imprisonment sentence been waived by the President

May 28, Kathmandu – On the occasion of the Republic Day, President Ramchandra Paudel has pardoned the prison sentence of Resham Chaudhary, who has been serving life imprisonment in Dillibazar prison.

The Council of Ministers had recommended to the President to waive the prison sentences of 19 people, including Chaudhary, who were found guilty by the Supreme Court in the Tikapur mass murder incident.

According to Article 276 of the Constitution of Nepal and Article 159 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 2074, they were pardoned by the President’s Office.

Similarly, according to Article 276 of the Constitution and Article 37 of the Criminal Offenses (Determining and Execution of Punishment) Act and Article 12 of the Senior Citizens Act, the rest of the prison sentences of 482 people have also been waived.

Petition in the Supreme Court against the government’s decision to grant amnesty to Resham Chaudhary

May 28, Kathmandu: Tikapur massacre accused Resham Chaudhary, who was sentenced for life imprisonment by supreme court has been pardoned by the government, on the occasion of Republic Day.

Meanwhile, Sharda Kadayat, the wife of police inspector Keshav Bohra, who was killed in the Tikapur incident, has filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the government’s decision to grant amnesty to Resham Chaudhary.

After the government tried to free Chaudhary, who was found guilty by the court and was serving his prison sentence, Sharda had submitted a petition to the President’s Office and demanded that Chaudhary should not be released from prison.

On Bhadra 7, 2072 BS., during the Tharuhat movement in Tikapur of Kailali, seven security personnel and one minor were killed along with SSP Laxman Neupane of Nepal Police.

Resham Chaudhary’s life sentence upheld by the Supreme Court

May 16,Kathmandu – The Supreme Court has upheld the life imprisonment sentence of Reshlamal Chaudhary, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by the District Court Kailali and the High Court Dipayal for his involvement in the Tikapur incident in Kailali.

With this order of the Supreme Court, Chaudhary has been sentenced to life imprisonment. The joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Anand Mohan Bhattarai and Nahkul Subedi upheld the sentence of life imprisonment imposed on Chaudhary by the District and High Courts.

Sitaram Chaudhary and Gangaram Chaudhary, accused in the same case, have been acquitted. Sitaram and Gangaram were in jail for the term of life imprisonment as per the orders of the District and High Courts. Supreme Court has ordered to release them from prison today.

In the case of Laxman Tharu, As decided by the district court, who has served three years of imprisonment, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the high court. But Laxman tharu will not have to spend more time in prison as the Supreme Court upheld the decision of the district court.
