Three major political parties agreed to proceed with the Bill on Transitional Justice and Constitutional Council

May 14, Kathmandu – The meeting between the top leaders of the three major political parties at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar, has concluded the discussion to advance the bill related to transitional justice and constitutional council.

The meeting held in the presence of the Prime Minister and Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Chairman of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba, Chairman of the main opposition party UML KP Sharma Oli, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Purna Bahadur Khadka, Deputy Leader of UML Parliamentary Party Subas Nemwang, Chief Whip of Congress Ramesh lekhak and Chief Whip of Maoist Center Hitraj Pandey has decided to proceed with the bill by forming a sub-committee under the subject committee of the House of Representatives.

Similarly, after the top leaders of the three major parties left their position on the Constitutional Council Bill, the process of passing the Constitutional Council Bill will be taken forward.

Regarding the constitutional council bill, after the two ruling parties, Nepali Congress and CPN Maoist Center backed away from the stance, the main opposition CPN-UML has also backed away from its position .

Among the 10 thematic committees in the House of Representatives, it has been agreed between the top leaders that UML will get the leadership of one more committee, including the Public Accounts Committee and also among the two joint committees UML will get the Chairman of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Committee of the Director Principles, Policies and Responsibilities of the State.
