Former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa’s security advisor Dr. Indrajit Rai arrested

Former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa’s security advisor Dr. Indrajit Rai has been arrested by the police.

The security advisor Indrajit Rai, of the then Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa “Badal” has been arrested by police and said that the involvement of the Ministry of Home Affairs was confirmed in the case of making fake Bhutanese refugees and sending them to America.

After the victims lodged a complaint against Rai, he was arrested by the police from his residence and kept in custody at Teku. According to the police Dr. Rai has been charged with organized crime and fraud.

The police said that they have collected evidence against Rai and other people of the Ministry of Home Affairs and that the investigation has also started against the then officials of the Home Ministry and some high-ranking employees. Police have issued an arrest warrant against Rai’s son Neeraj in the case and, former home minister Badal’s son Prateek Thapa is also said to be involved in the incident. Police have also arrested Keshav Dulal, Sanu Bhandari, Sagar Thulung Rai, Sandesh Sharma, and Tank Gurung involved in the incident. Among those arrested, Dulal was a personal assistant of former foreign minister Sujata Koirala, while Sharma and Bhandari were aides of former energy minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi.
