Russia has no intention of destroying Ukraine: Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the Russian Federation has no intention of destroying Ukraine.

Speaking to journalists after a summit with regional leaders in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana, President Putin said, “What is happening today is not pleasant, to put things mildly,”. “But at the same time, if Russia hadn’t attacked, Russia would have been in the same situation, only the conditions would have been worse for us. So we’re doing everything correctly and at the right time.”

President Putin also said that if Ukraine had not cut the water supply to Crimea, where 2.4 million people live there would have been no retaliatory actions, but we didn’t have any other options apart from entering the area and reopening the water supply to Crimea.

President Putin said it was not Russia’s intention to destroy Ukraine, but he did not regret the invasion as Ukraine was joining NATO and playing according to the west to weaken Russian Federation.

He said most of the designated targets had been hit, and the recent stike had destroyed 22 out of the 29 targets in Ukraine set by the military and that they are getting the remaining seven.

He also said that the wave of missile strikes on cities across Ukraine recently was the retaliation for a blast which damaged a key bridge between Russia and annexed Crimea.

Meanwhile, Analyst says that all this comes after the Russian forces are retreating where the Ukraine is advancing its attack and Russia’s influence in the region is declining.

Biden hits Russia with sanctions, shifts troops to Germany

President Joe Biden unleashed new sanctions against Russia and ordered the deployment of thousands of additional troops to NATO ally Germany.

He also acknowledged that the invasion — and efforts to thwart Putin — will have a cost for Americans. But he sought to reassure the public that the economic pain that may come with rising energy prices will be short-lived in the U.S.

Targeting Russia’s financial system, Biden said, the United States will block assets of Large Russian banks, impose export controls aimed at the nation’s high-tech needs and sanction its business oligarchs.

The president said the U.S. also will be deploying additional forces to Germany to bolster NATO after the invasion of Ukraine, which is not a member of the defense organization. Around 7,000 additional U.S. troops will be sent.

Second phone calls to be held between President Putin and President Biden in a month.

US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin will speak by phone on Thursday evening regarding the security issues between the two countries and the situation in Europe. This will be the second phone conversation between the two leaders in a month.

The US has threatened Mr Putin with sanctions “like none he’s ever seen” if Ukraine comes under attack, as Ukrainian officials reported more than 100000 Russian troops have been sent close on the border with Ukraine.A US official told, “Mr Biden will offer his Russian counterpart a “diplomatic path” but remains “gravely” concerned by the Russian troop build-up on the border.”

President Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said Moscow is “in the mood for a conversation”, regarding the issue. At the same time, the US has consulted European leaders to coordinate a common response to the Ukraine issue.

President Putin request to help Afghanistan

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on the United States to help save Afghanistan’s economy. He says the United States has been involved in Afghanistan for two decades and should provide assistance.

“Those who have been there for 20 years and have destroyed the economy must first provide assistance,” Putin said in response to a question from reporters at the annual press conference.

He also said that the assets of Afghanistan, which have been blocked by the United States and other countries, should be released. Putin also called on the Taliban to form an inclusive government representing all ethnic groups.
