Tax imposed on Sugar Import is a collusion

Speaking in the discussion on Economic Bill 2080 in the House of Representatives meeting, Prem Suwal, a member of the House of Representatives, said that tax was imposed on sugar import in a collusion.

According to the government policy as there is a tax on sugar import, businesses are importing sugar illegally declaring it as a rice, as there is no tax in rice import and the finance minister pretends not to know about it, Suwal said.

Objecting to the imposition of infrastructure development tax on public transport used by the poor, Suwal has also demanded a 10 percent airport infrastructure development tax on aviation fuel.

Speaking in a meeting, Suwal said private telecom providers should be brought under state ownership and he also drew the attention of the government to arrange for no 2 percent charge on SIM card recharge up to Rs.300.
