All services except emergency in hospitals across the country are closed

Kathmandu-: The Nepal Medical Association has today stopped all services except for emergencies in hospitals across the country. The union has announced today that it will stop all non-emergency services in all hospitals across the country saying that no legal action has been taken against the culprits involved in the physical abuse of the doctors of Sancho Hospital in Hetauda.

The Nepal Medical Association issued a statement saying that all health services except emergency services will be completely closed today in all government health institutions, hospitals, medical colleges, private hospitals and clinics across the country.

The union has also given the government a 72-hour ultimatum to take legal action against those involved in the attack on Dr. Vikas Thapa and Dr. Prashant Bidari of Sancho Hospital.

The association has demanded that all the culprits involved in the incident should be immediately investigated and criminal charges should be filed and legal action should be taken according to the Ordinance on Safety of Health Workers and Health Institutions (First Amendment) 2079.

Instead of arresting the culprits and taking legal action, the association has alleged that the local security agency, district administration office, and district police office is try to suppress the incident.
