Monitoring committee to facilitate waste management in Kathmandu

A Facilitation and Monitoring Committee will be formed to facilitate the waste management of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

The meeting held under the coordination of Urban Development Minister Metmani Chaudhary decided to form the committee. Members of the House of Representatives from Kathmandu, Nuwakot and Dhading will be included in the committee.

While giving information about the formation of the committee, Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa said that the garbage in the valley has started to rise and everyone’s help is needed to prevent the problem from happening again.

He said that the Metropolitan city is continuously doing the work to be done in terms of waste management. He also said that the committee will coordinate and facilitate with the government and agencies at the same level to carry out the works according to the agreement on time.

No garbage in Bancharedanda today and tomorrow

As the road from Sisdol to Bancharedanda has to be repaired, waste management work in Kathmandu Valley will be affected today and tomorrow (Tuesday and Wednesday).

Garbage collection will be stopped today and tomorrow due to the problems on the way to Bancharedanda as the garbage has been piled up on the way to Sisdol of Nuwakot. To reach Bancharedanda, two kilometers from Sisdol, vehicles have to cross a pile of garbage and that has been difficult due to the regular rainfall.

The Department of Environment of Kathmandu metropolis has stated that it is going to clean the place by stopping the work as there is a danger of an accident while transporting the garbage from the valley.
