Action against the officials involved in the contract management of Kathmandu-Nijgadh Expressway

The Development and Technology Committee under the House of Representatives has instructed the government to take action against the responsible officials including the project chief involved in the contract management process of the Kathmandu-Nijgadh Expressway project.

The meeting of the committee held at Singha Darbar on Sunday has directed to take action against those involved in the contract management process based on the report of the inquiry committee regarding the contract agreement of the project. Kalyani Kumari Khadka, chairperson of the committee informed that the Prime Minister and Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Defense have been alerted to take action against the relevant officials as the work of the contract process has not progressed according to the Public Procurement Act.

The meeting has also submitted and passed the site observation report of Janakpur-Jayanagar and Janakpur-Kurtha-Bardibas-Nijgarh sections under the railway infrastructure project with suggestions. In the report, the government has also been instructed to immediately proceed with a clear action plan for the long-term management of the manpower required for train operations.

The committee has asked the government to proceed with setting up its own washing center, workshop and fuel station with high priority.
