Cooperative victims filed complaint against Rabi Lamichhane and Dipesh Pun

Kaski – A complaint has been lodged at District Police Office Kaski against three people including Rabi Lamichhane, president of Rastriya Swatantra Party and Dipesh Pun,son of former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun in the case of co-operative fraud.

The depositors of Pokhara’s Suryadarshan Savings and Loan Cooperative have filed a complaint against Rabi Lamichhane, president of Rastriya Swatantra Party , Dipesh Pun, the son of former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Gyan Bahadur Bamjan, the former president of the cooperative, and various 15 companies.

As the District Police Office Kaski has already registered a complaint on the same issue, District police now has said that the complaint will be investigated as a supplementary application.

Earlier, the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has issued a diffusion notice against three people on charges of cooperative fraud. A notice was issued against Suryadarshan Cooperative founder president Gitendrababu (GB) Rai, current president Than Bahadur Budhamgar and former president Bhupendra Rai.

A complaint was lodged at the District Police Office Kaski on the allegation that 19 people including Rai had embezzled more than one billion from the cooperative and the case is now under investigation.

Diffusion notice issued against GB Rai in cooperative fraud case

Kathmandu – A diffusion notice has been issued requesting Interpol’s help in arresting GB Rai, who has been charged of co-operative fraud.

District Police Office Kaski had earlier requested the Police Head Office to issue a diffusion notice in the case of fraud in Suryadarshan Cooperative. In response, Central Police Spokesperson DIG Bhim Prasad Dhakal informed that Interpol’s National Central Bureau Kathmandu has requested the Secretary General of Interpol to issue the notice.

The Kaski District Court earlier ordered the arrest of treasurer Kumar Ramtel on charges of misappropriation of depositors’ money. In the same incident, Vice President Kailash Kumar Darlami, member Shiv Bahadur Gurung and Bhagishwar Aryal were also arrested and are currently being detained and investigated, according to the Kaski Police.

An arrest warrant has been issued against 19 people including JB Rai in the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case. 15 of them are absconding now.

In the complaint, it is alleged that the employees of Suryadarshan embezzled 1.12 billion rupees from the depositors. Under the Cooperative Act, they can be jailed for 8 to 10 years and fined.

According to the police report, the GB Rai group embezzled the funds of Suryadarshan by creating fake shareholders and various companies. The police have concluded that the directors and officials of the cooperative opened fake share member accounts and misappropriated the funds without placing the assets in the name of the cooperative or individuals.
