Former US President Trump been charged of $83.3m for defamation & sexual assault

A New York jury has decided Donald Trump should pay $83.3m for defaming columnist E Jean Carroll in 2019 while he was US president.

The penalty in the civil trial is made up of $18.3m for compensatory damages and $65m in punitive damages. It took the jury of seven men and two women less than three hours to reach a verdict .

Mr Trump was found in a previous civil case to have defamed Ms Carroll and sexually assaulted her in the 1990s.

Lawsuit filed by Trump demanding an independent review of seized documents

Former President Trump and his legal team filed a motion Monday evening seeking an independent review of records seized by the FBI during the Mar-a-Lago raid.
Trump has said the raid on his residence ahead of the 2022 midterm elections was a politicized attempt to silence a key Republican voice.

According to the motion filed Monday evening in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Trump and his legal team are seeking an order appointing a special person to review records obtained during the search.
It has been demanded to block the further review of seized materials Until a special person is appointed and to return the items, not within the scope of the government-issued warrant.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) said in a brief statement that relevant individuals and agencies are aware of Trump’s case and will respond to the matter in court. A federal court also said the warrant issued to raid Mar-a-Lago was allowed based on probable cause.

The FBI raided Trump’s Florida estate on August 8 and seized an eleventh set of classified files.
