Today is FULPATI: The seventh day of Nawaratri

Today, on the seventh day of Navratri, Ashwin Shukla Saptami, special worship of Durga Bhawani in the form of Goddess Kalratri is performed and Fulpati is brought inside the house.

On the seventh day of Bada Dashain, today the seventh form of Durga Bhawani, Kalaratri, is worshipped and nine small stones are installed as idols of Navadevi next to the Kalash set up as Ganesha. According to the religious method, today it is celebrated by bringing flowers, the symbol of an auspicious day, into every house. Sugarcane, Haledo, Banana plant, Paddy, Belpatra, Darim, Jayanthi, Ashoka flower and Manavriksha are brought inside as a symbol of auspiciousness.

FULPATI from the Gorkha palace is brought to the Dashain house in the temple of Taleju Bhawani in Hanumandhoka, Kathmandu. A Fulpati was sent to Kathmandu from the Dashain house at Gorkha Durbar at 7:10 a.m. this morning. Ever since His Majesty, the late king Prithvi Narayan Shah started his reign from Hanumandhoka Palace in Kathmandu, every year there has been a tradition of bringing a FULPATI (Chariot with flowers) from the Dashain house of Gorkha Palace to the Dashain house in the temple of Taleju Bhawani in Hanumandhoka, Kathmandu.
