Nepal is committed to one China policy:PM Deuba

During a meeting between Liu Jianchao, head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese Communist Party, and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today, Jianchao expressed the view that anti-China activities should not take place on Nepali soil, while Prime Minister Deuba said Nepal is committed to the one-China policy.

Prime Minister Deuba reminded that he had closed the Dalai Lama’s office in Nepal and said that he would not allow any anti-China activities on Nepali soil.

During the meeting, Liu Jianchao said that China’s relations with any country is not guided by ideology and china will cooperate with all political parties in Nepal.

During the meeting between Jianchao and the Prime Minister, issues of mutual interest including Nepal-China relations were discussed, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Liu Jianchao arrived in Nepal

Liu Jianchao, the newly appointed head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese Communist Party, has arrived in Nepal.

Jianchao, who landed at Tribhuvan International Airport from an Air China flight at around 11 this morning, was welcomed by Deputy Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Rewati Poudel, leader of the major parties’ foreign departments.

It is said that the six-member Chinese delegation will discuss Nepal-China relations and issues of mutual interest during the 4 days visit.

Jianchao is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Foreign Minister Dr. Narayan Khadka today.

He is also scheduled to meet President Vidyadevi Bhandari, UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli.
