11 children and 3 police officers injured in a clash at Birgunj’s Children Correctional Home

Parsa-11 children and three police officers were injured in a clash between children in Birgunj’s Children’s Correctional Home.

On Tuesday night, there was a conflict between the 18 children who were brought from the Children’s Reform Home in Bhaktapur and the children who were already living in the Birta Children’s Reform Home in Birgunj. During the clash, 11 children including 10 brought from Bhaktapur and 1 from Birta Children’s Correctional Home were injured.

The police said that 11 children from the correctional home who were injured were treated at Narayani Hospital on Tuesday night and brought back to the district police office.

It is said that the clash started after the children who were brought from Bhaktapur started argument with the leader of Birta reform home. Police said that Nepal Police and Armed Police reached the reform house in large numbers to control the situation and few rounds of tear gas wear also fired during the incident .

The children protesting in the correctional home have alleged that, the correctional home does not serve good food ,the toilets are not good, they charge 100 rupees per telephone call , keeps too many children in the same room and the head of the correctional home has been torturing them.
