Avalanche in Manaslu: Helicopter rescue in operation

An avalanche occurred between the third and fourth base camp of Manaslu mountain on Monday.

After the avalanche, rescue operations are continuing with helicopters for those trapped while climbing the mountain. For rescue, the helicopter from Kathmandu reached Samagaon, the last village of North Gorkha. Although the rescue work of those trapped in the avalanche is continuing, since the weather at the base camp is not clear, no definite information about the injured could be obtained.

The Department of Tourism has stated that there is no way to say anything about the human loss caused by the avalanche as there is no contact with the people in the area where the avalanche hit.
It is said that all the climbers who went from Nirmal Purja’s elite expedition are safe.
The Department of Tourism has given permission to 38 climbing teams to climb Manaslu. There are 404 climbers including 97 women and 307 men in the climbing team.
