According to the National Sports Council, Vice President Nanda Kishor Pun will officially inaugurate the ninth National Games today at Pokhara Stadium at 4:00 PM.

As part of the 9th National Games, which will be conducted in eight other districts including Pokhara, eight different games are starting today, while some games have already started before the opening. 6,157 players from 11 teams including provincial and departmental teams are participating in the 9th National Games which includes 38 games along with two exhibitions. For the first time, in the 9th National Games, a “National Running Trophy” has been made.

March pass along with a band salute by the Nepal army on the national anthem will be performed at the opening ceremony. Various other cultural programs will also be performed today at the opening ceremony.

The National Games, which started in the capital Kathmandu for the first time on 2038 BS, were to be held every two years, but could not be conducted regularly due to various reasons. The second edition of the National Games was held in Pokhara in 2040 BS.Similarly, the third edition was held in Birgunj in 2042 BS., the fourth edition in Nepalgunj in 2053, the fifth edition in Kathmandu in 2065 BS., the sixth edition in Far West in 2068 BS, the seventh edition in Biratnagar in 2073 BS. and the eighth edition was held in Nepalgunj in 2075 BS.
