Speaker Agni Sapkota has directed the government to investigate the death of Kishore Binod Shahi of Panchadewal Municipality of Achham and take action against the culprit.

In the meeting of the House of Representatives, Speaker Sapkota said that he had taken serious note of the fact that the police had refused to take any action in the incident of Binod Shahi’s death and had not even conducted a postmortem of the body.

According to a complaint lodged by a Nepali Congress (NC) cadre on the issue of dispute between the NC and UML cadres in the local level election, a clash ensued when the police tried to arrest the UML cadres involved in the incident. Shahi, a member of a CPN-UML supporter’s family, was later found dead. As the situation became tense after Shahi was found dead, a CIB team was also mobilized to investigate the incident.
