Nissim Thapa, a 26-year-old player of the Nepal Army, who participated in the paragliding cross-country competition under the ninth national sports competition, passed away in an accident during the competition. With Thapa’s death, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has decided to suspend all types of paragliding flights across the country until further notice.

After taking off his flight in the competition, Thapa fell to the ground about 100 meters below. It is assumed that he crashed on the ground because the glider did not open. After falling to the ground, he died while being taken to the hospital for treatment.

Civil aviation authority has said that the lack of adequate arrangements for the safety of drivers and passengers, the issue of paragliding safety has become complicated. The authority has decided to stop all flights, for the time being, saying that there is a need to study the safety of flights, laws and regulations.
