Nepalese travelling abroad in visit visa have to pay 5 percent tax

Through the Economic Bill 2080, the government has put forward a policy that Nepalese going abroad in tourist visas or visits must pay a tax of 5 percent to the government.

According to the Economic Bill 2080, a tax of 5 percent will be levied on the total amount paid by Nepalese traveling abroad. The amount equal to the said tax will be levied by the foreign tour package seller at the time of selling the package.

In the same way, any firm or company sending their staffs abroad for visit in the course of business promotion will be taxed by the government during the accounting of the expenses incurred and the said amount should be sent to the revenue office by the 25th of the next month.

According to the economic bill, if the foreign tourism fee is not deposited, interest will be charged at the rate of 15 percent per annum.

Similarly, if the return statement is not submitted, such person will be charged an annual fee of 2.5% from the date the statement is to be submitted to the date such statement is not filed.
