Chief Minister of Gandaki Province taking a vote of confidence

April 22- The Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Khagraj Adhikari will take the vote of confidence today.

The State Assembly Secretariat said that the Chief Minister’s Office has sent a letter to put the issue of a vote of confidence on the agenda and the Secretariat has prepared accordingly.

After the Maoist Center withdrew its support on Chaitra 10 2079 BS. and recalled its ministers, the UML leaders fell into the minority. The UML parliamentary party leader was appointed as the Chief Minister on Paush 25 2079 BS. with the support of the Maoist Center and the RPP and received a vote of confidence on Paush 29 2079 BS. At that time, 31 MPs were in his support.

According to the constitutional provisions, the Chief Minister must seek a vote of confidence in the state assembly within 30 days of the withdrawal of support from the ruling party.

The 60-member Gandaki Provincial Assembly has 27 MPs from Congress, 22 from UML, 8 from Maoist Center, 2 from RPP and 1 independent.
