The visit of General Charles A. Flynn, Commanding General of the US Army Pacific Command, to Nepal has made the politics of Nepal even more turbulent. However, since the MCC’s approval, there has been a strong presence of US diplomats in Nepal. Opposition party leaders had said that, the visit of General Flynn to Uzra Zeya (the coordinator for Tibetan affairs), shows that Nepal has forgotten its independent foreign policy and is moving towards military policy.

Oppositio party leaders have been accusing the government saying that, the PM is secretly preparing to sign the SPP agreement during his visit to US. Some of the MP’s has asked to cancel the visit of PM and army chief to US. Although the United States has repeatedly written to Nepal to participate in the State Partnership Program since 2015, no agreement has been reached to date.
