CPN-UML deputy secretary general and former foreign minister Pradeep Gyawali have said that it would be morally and politically unfair for the caretaker government to extend the term of parliament after the date of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections has been announced.

Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Chowtari Nepal Palpa in Tansen today, leader Gyawali said, ‘We had a clear opinion that it is unfair to continue the Parliament after announcing the date of the election”. He said that the government has not consulted with the opposition when taking such an important decision and UML will not support extending the tenure of the House of Representatives and the State Assembly.

He said that when the ground is cleared for a fresh mandate the Parliament will automatically dissolve after the election date is announced according to the universal principle.

Stating that the continuation of the Parliament even after the nominations been registered for the election, would not allow the election to be a healthy competition.
