Kathmandu – The Education, Health and Information Technology Committee under the House of Representatives, which met at Singha Durbar on Friday, has directed the government to hold the 10th National Games on the scheduled date.
Committee Chairman Ammar Bahadur Thapa said that the committee meeting has directed the Sports Ministry to hold the National Games to be held in Karnali Province on the scheduled date.
Sports Minister Tejulal Chaudhary said in the meeting that although the National Games were supposed to be held in Falgun, it had to be postponed to Chaitra for various reasons. Due to legal problems, preparations for infrastructure and other things could not be made on time and there was no coordination between the ministry and the National Sports Council.
In the meeting, the committee members suggested that the government should coordinate among sports bodies and hold the competition on time. The committee held discussions with the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding the current status of the National Games to be held in the coming days, the activities done, the problems and the future direction.
