Death of a prisoner in Jaleshwor Prison

Janakpur- A prisoner has died in Jaleshwor Prison in Mahottari. The death has been recorded for 56-year-old Jogendra Mahara of Bateshwor Rural Municipality-1, Dhanusha, who was in the prison.

Mahara, who was already taking medication, was admitted to the Jaleshwor Provincial Hospital at midnight after suffering from severe stomach pain and died at 2:30 am on Saturday during treatment, said Ashok Chhetri, head of the prison administration.

The District Court in Dhanusha had convicted him of an arson incident in a village field in 2038 BS and sentenced him to imprisonment. Since then, he had been on the list of fugitives and was arrested by the police two years ago and sent to prison to serve his sentence.
